The current situation is a very big challenge for parents and families. Schools and kindergartens are currently being reopened but with significantly reduced childcare times. This is and will remain a challenge for all those involved.

The Human Resources Department and V-PE have jointly offered an information event for parents. The support offers for parents at DESY for the care of their children have been summarized in a presentation, which is based on the leaflet on school and daycare closures.

There are various consulting services available if you are looking for help in case you feel overwhelmed by the situation and do not want to use the DESY internal consulting services.

It is important and a sign of great sovereignty to get professional support in the above-mentioned cases and to check whether you can relieve yourself and the family situation if necessary.
The consultations are held in German - consultations in other languages may be available but must be requested in advance.

Experienced experts from STEP e. V. help parents to cope well with stress and challenges in dealing with their children. They are pedagogically trained and STEP certified. The online counselling of the Federal Conference for Educational Counselling e. V. (bke) specialises in advising parents and provides advice nationwide anonymously and free of charge at www.bke-elternberatung.de. Mails are answered on weekdays within 48 hours.

Online Counseling of the Diakonie
Via the help portal of Diakonie, the social service of the Protestant churches, all families can find online advice from Diakonie in their area. The online consultations are free and confidential. They take place via a specially protected webmail form. https://hilfe.diakonie.de

Online Counseling of Caritas
The Catholic welfare organisation Caritas offers free and anonymous advice and assistance via an online advice portal. You can send your questions and concerns via e-mail to: www.caritas.de. The specialists in online counselling answer promptly, at the latest within 48 hours.
