Modul 1: Introduction to the DESY annual appraisals (leaders), 90‘, virtual

Target group: This module is compulsory (in combination with module 2) for all leaders who have not yet attended a training course on conducting annual appraisals. In addition, all leaders who would like to learn about the changes from 2021 and the use of the new tools are welcome to attend as well.

  • Regulations (new GBV), the JAG as a development discussion
  • Structure of the JAG and topics to be discussed
  • New tools (handouts, guidelines, documentation template)
  • Time frame, contact persons, database   
Module 1: Introduction to the DESY annual appraisals (employees), 90', virtual

Target group:

This module is open (in combination with module 2) for all employees who have not yet attended a training course on conducting annual appraisals. In addition, all employees who would like to learn about the changes from 2021 and the use of the new tools are welcome to attend as well.

Module 2: Successfully conducting annual appraisals (leaders), 0.5 days, virtual / in person

Target group: This module is compulsory for new leaders who have not yet attended a training course on conducting annual appraisals. The prerequisite for participation is attendance of Module 1. In addition, all leaders who would like to refresh their conversation skills are welcome to attend.

Contents

  • Reflecting on one's own attitude towards the JAG, formulating open questions + concerns.
  • Entering the discussion: discussion framework and preparation
  • Conducting the conversation: guiding through questions, avoiding misunderstandings through active listening, giving effective feedback
  • Practical exercises + feedback
  • Intercultural peculiarities in communication
Module 2: Successfully conducting annual appraisals (for employees), 0.5 days, virtual / in person

Target group: The module is aimed at all employees who are conducting a JAG for the first time and have already attended Module 1. In addition, all employees who would like to refresh their skills are welcome to attend.

Contents

  • Reflect on one's own attitude towards the JAG, formulate open questions + concerns.
  • Effective preparation for the interview: What topics do I want to address? What do I want to achieve? 
  • Listening and giving feedback - deepening one's own communication skills
  • Practical exercises + feedback
Module 3: Mastering challenging situations in Annual Appraisal Interviews (leaders), 0.5 days, virtual/in person

Target group: Leaders who have been conducting JAG for several years.

Contents:

  • Formulating your own "stumbling blocks" in the JAG
  • Getting to know "difficult" situations in the JAG
  • Moderated collegial exchange to find solutions to difficult situations
  • Finding individual solutions for one's own concerns
